About Flam
Flam is building the next generation of AI-native content and immersive technology, working with some of the world’s leading enterprises and brands across markets.
As we scale rapidly across India, the US and other international markets, we are looking for a strong Legal Manager to build and manage Flam’s legal function and support the business across commercial, corporate and international matters.
This is a high-ownership, business-facing legal role. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with business, finance, sales and leadership teams rather than operating purely as a legal reviewer.
The Role
As Legal Manager, you will be responsible for managing Flam’s day-to-day legal requirements, primarily for Flam India, while also supporting Flam US contracts and legal matters.
You will work closely with the CFO, sales/GTM, finance, HR and leadership teams to ensure that Flam can close business quickly while appropriately managing legal and commercial risk.
The role will involve a mix of commercial contracting, corporate legal, compliance, employment matters and international contracts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Contracts
Own the end-to-end contracting process for Flam, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating:
- Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
- SaaS / Platform agreements
- Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Enterprise customer agreements
- Vendor and supplier agreements
- NDAs and confidentiality agreements
- Partnership and strategic alliance agreements
- Reseller / distribution agreements
- Data processing and privacy agreements
- Support the sales and GTM teams in negotiating enterprise contracts.
- Identify commercial and legal risks and provide practical recommendations to the business.
- Develop standard contract templates, fallback clauses and negotiation playbooks.
- Establish processes to ensure contracts are executed, stored and tracked properly.
2. US & International Legal
- Support Flam’s US entity and ideally take ownership of US customer and vendor agreements.
- Review and negotiate US-style commercial contracts, including limitation of liability, indemnification, warranties, IP, confidentiality, data privacy and governing law provisions.
- Coordinate with external US counsel where specialist advice is required.
- Support contracts and legal matters relating to Flam’s expansion into other international markets.
- Help build a scalable legal framework for Flam as the company expands globally.
3. Employment & HR Legal
Work closely with HR on:
- Employment agreements and offer documentation
- Consultant and contractor agreements
- Employee confidentiality and IP assignment agreements
- Employee exits and separation documentation
- Employment-related disputes and notices
- HR policies from a legal and compliance perspective
5. Legal Operations & Risk Management
- Build and maintain a central repository of Flam’s contracts and legal documents.
- Establish contract approval and signing workflows.
- Create a legal risk matrix and escalation framework.
- Track key contractual obligations, renewals, liabilities and compliance requirements.
- Manage external lawyers and legal vendors and ensure efficient use of external counsel.
- Help establish a scalable legal function as Flam grows.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with significant experience in corporate / commercial legal teams.
- Experience working in-house with a technology, SaaS, internet, AI, media, advertising or high-growth company is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
- Exposure to US commercial contracts is highly desirable.
- Experience managing external legal counsel and multiple legal workstreams independently.
Qualifications
- LL.B. from a reputed law school.
- Additional qualifications in corporate/commercial law, technology law or related areas would be an advantage.
- Indian Bar qualification preferred.
Skills & Attributes
We are looking for someone who is:
- Business-oriented, not just legally oriented — understands that legal should enable business while managing risk.
- Comfortable negotiating directly with customers, vendors and counterparties.
- Strong in drafting and interpreting commercial contracts.
- Able to distinguish between critical legal risks and negotiable commercial points.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment with limited supervision.
- Highly detail-oriented without losing sight of commercial objectives.
- Able to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with senior management and cross-functional teams.
- Willing to take ownership rather than simply providing legal opinions.
